Shaw Contracts presence at Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas
The “Community” collection was the result of Shaw Contract design teams’ journey to the High Atlas mountains in Morocco. Working alongside local Berber women, they gained an appreciation for the intricacies of their craft, exchanged ideas and found inspiration in the techniques practised by local communities for millennia.
In collaboration with the design and marketing teams we developed a fair stand for HD Expo in Las Vegas—one that celebrated the richness of this multi-facetted collection, the craftsmanship techniques and the spirit of community.

The stand’s architectural design drew inspiration from the winding laneways, passages and openings of the Marrakech old town. Referencing Yves Saint Laurent’s villa, the vibrant Majorelle blue were featured not only in the collection’s carpets, but also made for a bold backdrop to showcase the “Community” collection.
Unbacked carpets and skeins of yarns hanging over rails and in baskets were a nod to the traditional dyeing and weaving craftsmanship in Berber culture.

The centerpiece of the booth was a large table, installed purposefully to welcome visitors and standing as a place for them to gather. Using the design teams’ travel journals as an inspiration we crafted bespoke travel zines whilst video screen installations displayed the design process—from inspiration to hand sketching, pattern development to the final carpet patterns production.
