NEOCON 2019
PROJECT TITLE
NEOCON 2019
Shaw Contract's brand and product exhibition
at the The Mart in Chicago.
Showcasing two completely different product stories in one cohesive spatial experience. For Neocon 2019, we worked with Shaw Contract to create a spatial brand and product experience centered around the concepts of color (“A Color Study”) and community (“A Need to Belong”). The challenge was to design a product exhibition that featured two narratives in one brand and product exhibition.

We worked with horizontal and vertical product layerings to present the newest collections but also by utilizing other Shaw Contract product lines to unleash endless design possibilities. The layerings combined with tactile product displays, digital screens and hands-on interactions, created a multi-sensory experience for Shaw Contracts customers.

The entrance area invited customers to explore “A Color Study”, three new flooring collections that the Shaw Contract product design team derived from intense color study and experimentation. We wanted to invite their customers inside this process, and to share their perspectives of color impact and through selections of materiality in space.

Several moving images and videos, huge graphic applications and some bold print collateral to take home, supported the overall product experience.

Working with see. opened up ideas we never imagined possible at the outset. That made our projects always more fun and fulfilling then we could ever envision alone.

In the other half of the space we presented “A Need to Belong” - the Community collection by Shaw Contract. The collection is inspired by their design team’s travels to the High Atlas mountains in Morocco, with a final collection that embodied multi-formats and materials.

A community table was also installed which allowed customers to dive deep further into the collection. Process and inspiration were shared and we explored the meaning of community, via a rich and tactile narrative. The table featured playful hands-on interactions and branded take-home materials including product brochures, notebooks, and pencils.

Shaw Contract’s customers were delighted to actively explore color, think about the meaning of community, experience the design process as well as get up and personal with the Shaw Contract brand.
